Iran’s central military command has warned of severe retaliation against American bases and interests across the Middle East, stating it has received intelligence that the United States is preparing to resume military strikes. These warnings follow recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who indicated he was considering military action against Iran.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Iran’s central military command, specifically warned that any renewed U.S. assault would trigger a forceful response. It also stated that regional countries permitting their territory or facilities to be used for U.S. attacks would be deemed “complicit” and could face an Iranian response.
IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi further declared Iran's preparedness for a “long-term war,” indicating plans to introduce new weapons with enhanced capabilities, expand the “geography of the war,” and target previously unused sites if the U.S. resumes attacks. Mohebbi asserted that the world “will be astonished” by Iran's response.
Adding to these statements, Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, affirmed that Iran is “fully prepared” for a “decisive war,” noting the country's increased readiness and understanding of U.S. military vulnerabilities. A joint statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces and Khatam al-Anbiya vowed that aggressors, particularly the U.S. and Israel, would “taste the bitter taste of further defeats.”
These stern warnings from Tehran come after U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News on Sunday, September 20, 2026, that he was in “deciding mode” regarding Iran. President Trump outlined three potential options: further military action, economic pressure, or a diplomatic deal. He also expressed openness to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the UN General Assembly.
The current conflict between the U.S. and Iran, which also involves Israeli strikes, commenced in late February 2026. A previous memorandum of understanding between the parties has since expired, with Qatar and Pakistan currently engaged in mediation efforts. Iran has stipulated conditions for any future talks, including an end to the war, the release of frozen funds, and the termination of a naval blockade.
